چکیده

The most important functionality of the hail suppression information system in Serbia is to enable timely and reliable detection of the formation of hail-containing clouds. Improvement of this functionality can be achieved by adequate visualization of air flow (wind) inside the cloud system. This was the motivation for implementing a 2D steady vector field visualization method, based on the streamlines method. The choice of this method is dictated by the requirements for the given appliance: efficiency (a crucial requirement in hail suppression systems), generality of use, an accurate and easily understandable display. By implementing algorithms for streamlines seeding strategy and streamlines points distance control, the infinite loop problem that occurs due to the existence of field vortices is eliminated and evenly spaced streamlines are obtained. For analysing the influence of the implemented method’s parameters on performance and image quality, a framework for visualization is developed. The implemented method is successfully applied for visualization of data obtained from meteorological radars.

A Streamline Selection Technique for Integrated Scalar and Vector Visualization

Scalar and vector field visualization techniques have evolved almost independently. We think integration of scalar and vector visualization is still an interesting topic. For example, many researchers in fluid dynamics simulations still use 2D scalar and vector visualization techniques in one display, to demonstrate the coherency between scalar (e.g., temperature and air pressure) and vector (e...

Design of Air Distribution System for Operation Theatre Using Flow Visualization Techniques to Improve Flow Characteristics

Operation Theatre (OT) is the most important area where precise controlled on indoor air quality is required because it is directly related to patient health and its recovery period. This work aims to study and visualize the airflow distribution of conventional flat air diffuser ventilation system and newly designed angular air ventilation system in OT. Angular Air Distribution (AAD) system is ...

Real-time Line-based Flow Visualization

We present in this paper a method that uses densely distributed streamlines to achieve real-time 2D flow visualization with better visual quality than produced by texturebased methods. We call the method a line-based flow visualization (LBFV) method because it uses a dense set of line segments as basic rendering primitives. Streamlines are commonly used for flow visualization, and they provide ...

Unsteady Flow Visualization by Animating Evenly-Spaced Streamlines

In recent years the work on vector field visualization has been concentrated on LIC-based methods. In this paper we propose an alternative solution for the visualization of unsteady flow fields. Our approach is based on the computation of temporal series of correlated images. While other methods are based on pathlines and try to correlate successive images at the pixel level, our approach consi...

Semi-Automatic Generation of Stream Surfaces via Sketching.

We present a semi-automatic approach for stream surface generation. Our approach is based on the conjecture that good seeding curves can be inferred from a set of streamlines. Given a set of densely traced streamlines over the flow field, we design a sketch-based interface that allows users to describe their perceived flow patterns through drawing simple strokes directly on top of the streamlin...
